JPW celebrates 10 years of helping public agencies build trust and strengthen communities

San Diego, Calif. — Oct. 8, 2025 — For the past decade, JPW has partnered with public agencies across California to strengthen community trust, make complex projects understandable and ensure residents’ voices are heard. As the firm celebrates its 10th anniversary, its leaders emphasize not just their own growth, but the results delivered for clients and the communities they serve.

“Ten years ago, I set out with a simple belief: local public agencies deserved a communications firm that could help them achieve lasting results, not just work that was ‘good enough for government,’” said Jenny Windle, founder and CEO of JPW. “From day one, our focus has been on delivering clear, compelling communication that builds trust and creates impact.”

Over the years, JPW has worked with more than 100 agencies, including cities, counties, ports, and special districts, to deliver communications that drive measurable outcomes.

With JPW’s support, public agencies have been able to:

  • Earn and sustain community trust for essential services and long-term projects

  • Make complex infrastructure and policy decisions understandable to residents

  • Engage stakeholders and elevate community voices in decision-making

  • Build credibility through transparent, results-driven communication strategies

  • Inspire behavior change that improves quality of life across communities

“Our clients inspire us every day,” said Susanne Bankhead, partner and senior vice president of JPW. “They’ve shown us that when communication is clear and inclusive, it becomes a powerful tool for building stronger, more connected communities. This milestone isn’t just about JPW’s success. It’s about what our clients have accomplished by investing in communication.”

JPW Communications has grown with purpose over the past decade, investing in people and services that expand value for the government agencies and communities it serves. The momentum began in 2018 when Leslie Spring joined the firm, bringing strong writing, strategic thinking and design expertise that elevated JPW’s service offerings. That same year, the acquisition of Davis Communications further strengthened the firm’s creative capabilities and laid the groundwork for a robust in-house team. In 2019, JPW welcomed Susanne Bankhead to launch its public engagement and outreach practice. She went on to earn the Public Participation Professional (CP3) certification in 2022, becoming one of only three certified professionals in California and bringing nationally recognized expertise in authentic, inclusive community engagement.

To ensure operational excellence, JPW added Marissa Aymar, vice president of finance and operations, reinforcing its commitment to efficiency and client service. Most recently, the firm invested in in-house video and photography capabilities, enabling dynamic visual storytelling with greater creativity, faster turnaround and cost savings for clients.

Together, these milestones reflect JPW’s commitment to strategic, thoughtful growth, not just in size, but in the depth and breadth of services it provides, helping clients build trust and deliver impact in their communities.

Looking ahead, JPW is continuing to invest in its team, inject personality into public projects and meet growing demands for transparency, engagement and measurable results.

“As we celebrate this milestone, we’re focused on what comes next,” said Windle. “Our values-driven approach ensures that our clients have a partner who can evolve with them, anticipate challenges and deliver communication that makes communities better places to live.”
