SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER | Accepting Applications Though August 15, 2019
 

JPW Communications is seeking a full-time Senior Communications Manager to play a key role within our growing agency. 

 

The ideal candidate will have the ability to create, implement and oversee comprehensive communications programs for our expanding roster of public sector clients, including cities, water districts, school districts, universities, economic development agencies, visitor bureaus and more. 

Work will revolve around strategy development, community outreach, branding, marketing, media relations and digital engagement. A tremendous value will be placed on the ability to manage details for a variety of accounts, projects and timelines – all while providing exceptional client service. 

 

The Senior Communications Manager will perform a variety of tasks, such as the creation and development of print and online advertising, email marketing, web site management, content development, press releases, bylined articles, videos and marketing collateral, RFP review and development, marketing budget development and cost tracking. They may aid in the preparation of presentations and/or speeches for conferences, workshops or new business pitches.

 

This role will provide supervision and direction to staff and contractors and will often work in conjunction with the agency’s art department. They will report to the Vice President, Client Affairs.

Job Description:

  • Provide high-level account support to clients needing community relations, media outreach, digital advocacy and strategic communication services

  • Cultivate community support for projects through targeted outreach, canvassing, one-on-one meetings, group meetings and events

  • Develop engaging and innovative content for advertising, videos, websites, fact sheets, presentations, newsletters and other collateral

  • Coordinate with graphics team for development and production of creative collateral materials, advertisements and websites

  • Develop and pitch imaginative story ideas and releases to the media

  • Plan and implement engaging social media campaigns and track success

  • Plan public meetings, open houses, workshops, supporter events, special events, news conferences and media briefings

  • Assist with client-related research, media coverage and social media tracking, and stakeholder database development

  • Provide excellent client service

 

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Political Science, Digital Media, Public Affairs or Public Administration required

Experience:

7-10 years previous Public Affairs, Public Relations or Community Outreach experience required; work within a public agency setting preferred but not required.

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of government operations

  • Familiarity with social media management programs

  • Knowledge of latest social media trends

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint)

  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign & Illustrator)

  • Familiarity with AP Style and standard rules of grammar

  • Experience with social media advertising and targeting

  • Understanding of integrated marketing
