Revekka began her marketing career with Walt Disney Pictures, where she interned while earning her communications degree from the University of Denver. From there, she spent a decade doing entertainment publicity for advertising agencies that served Paramount Pictures, Universal Pictures, and other major movie studios.
Looking for more meaningful work, she joined the City and County of Denver. Her major achievements included speechwriting for the Mayor during the Democratic National Convention of 2008, spearheading the Denver Strategic Transportation Plan and writing a five-year strategic plan for Denver Human Services.
She then served the Colorado Lt. Governor as Director of Communications, overseeing outreach programs for the state’s department of higher education and office of early childhood education. She helped run the Latinos for Hickenlooper team to re-elect Gov. Hickenlooper and Lt. Gov. Garcia in Colorado before returning to her hometown of San Diego, where she join the Port of San Diego.
She spent five years leading the Port’s marketing efforts, which included work on cruises, cargo, environment, public safety, economic development, and an agency rebrand.
Revekka also has a long history in community work to fight poverty, political parity, discrimination and educational inequality. She is a graduate of Denver’s Circle of Latina Leadership and California’s HOPE Leadership Institute, and has mentored youth and business women. Her many achievements aside, Revekka says her greatest success is being a role model to her two very independent, intelligent and vocal daughters.
