JPW Communications (JPW) is proud to announce that one of its video projects won a first-place national award from the City-County Communications & Marketing Association (3CMA).
A promotional video that JPW created for the City of San Marcos, CA to attract more quality job candidates earned a 2017 Savvy Award, which recognizes outstanding local government achievements in communications, marketing and public outreach.
“We created a video that invited job candidates to catch a glimpse of the San Marcos work culture—and see themselves thriving in it,” said JPW President and CEO Jenny Windle. “San Marcos sees value in candidates who have the right skillset but not necessarily any experience in government. So, it was important we found a way to appeal to them.”
It’s clear that goal was met, as one judge’s feedback read: "Great way to reach out to the private sector workforce. This really did a great job of selling the city and its employees.”
What’s more, thanks to a strategic social media campaign, the video reached more than 30,000 people and garnered nearly 56,000 impressions (the number of times a post from your page is displayed) and 16,507 actions (total engagements, such as “likes,” post shares and link clicks).
And according to a city data before the video, only 10 percent of applicants learned about opportunities via alternative avenues, including social media. However, after the video, that number nearly tripled to reach 36 percent in just a couple of months.
“We’re pleased with the traction this video has achieved so far, and already we are finding that it has helped us reach a new audience,” said City of San Marcos Communications Officer Sarah Macdonald, who was integral part of the project.
This year’s Savvy Awards attracted nearly 700 entries in 34 categories from across the nation.
“We know know there was a lot of good competition this year, and we’ve very proud to have been recognized for our work with San Marcos. We look forward to keeping up that momentum, too,” Windle said.
